I am picking up a boxer rescue dog in a few days and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good vet in the Durham area?

Thanks

I can't help with the Durham vet recommendation - but I did want to say congrats on the new dog, and thank you for adopting a rescue!

We use Oak Grove Animal Hospital, they are on Robbins Rd, by Wake Forest Hwy (Hwy 98). We really like them, but it depends where in Durham you are located as to whether they will be convenient for you:

We like Carver St. Animal Hospital. We moved here about 2 years ago and were really nervous about finding a new vet. We had been going to the same practice in South Carolina for almost 10 years. This practice was recommended by several people and our beagles have been very happy there - well, as happy as dogs can be at the vet. :-) Wait times aren't bad and the vets and staff are very good at calling to check up on the dogs.

I used Carver for about 8 months after moving from Raleigh. I liked them alright for a while, but they really tried to nickel and dime us to death over our dog's leg injury. They also recommended a $4000 surgery as the "only" option for her, when my research uncovered some uninvasive and MUCH cheaper alternatives that worked beautifully.

We consequently changed vets and now use North Paws on Guess Rd. and couldn't be happier there. Very nice office!

Carver St Animal Hospital, Dr. Bashor. He said our dog's life 3 times and our cat once. We don't care for a few other dr's there, but Dr. Bashor and Dr. Crabtree are excellent. I would highly recommend them.

Tyson Animal Hospital. People travel distances to come here Tyson Animal Hospital. They also board and provide day care.

Thanks for the advice.

I have actually settled on Falconbridge Animal Hospital. I've already been there several times with my new boxer. The staff is friendly, the doctors are knowledgeable and patient, and their prices are reasonable.
