Hi all, I'm tired of being robbed blind for a "package" of cable/phone/internet. I'm wondering what are the alternative companies -- specifically for cable and internet. What does everyone else do?

AT&T UVerse is available in some areas. Otherwise it's TWC for cable. DirecTV and Dish Network are other alternatives.

Phone is AT&T, TWC, or a VOIP service (e.g., Vonage). I think Embarq offers phone service in some areas here, but they are being sold to someone else.

Internet is generally either TWC or AT&T. There's another company that offers internet over TWC's network - I can't recall the name. Someone else here will know. It's a few buck's cheaper (on an unbundled basis, anyway).

Default Only 29.99 for all of it in the package

If you were in France, you would pay only for 29.99 all taxes-schmaxes included for all of it:
ADSL lne with wifi, phone line with free unlimited anytime calling local and international to over 100 countries and a cable box with hundreds of channels and a webspace etc etc.
The first company who started offering at this price was Freebox, la meilleure offre ADSL: Internet, Téléphone, Télévision and then all others had to follow even the state-owned France Telecom.
I know, because I lived there and that's what we were paying.

Exactly! Why do you think that is? Because practically every family has to pay these ridiculous prices and we all are looking for an alternative, as if there was one...

We could all move to Wilson and enjoy Greenlight.

My neighbor uses Clearwire and has been very pleased with the service. I can get the number from him if you'd like.

Lingo, $25 a month unlimited phone service to the United States, Canada and most of Europe. Great rates to most other countries that beat any others you'll find. I've had them for going on four years now, with no problems at all. Couldn't recommend a company any more. It's VOIP.

I use Earthlink for cable, but they use Time Warner Cable as their contractor so you still have to deal with TWC customer service and billing.
