That's VERY good news!

The dogs I've personally seen at restaurants/patios have been well-behaved and just hanging out by their human(s). 99% of the time they're better behaved than the kids running amok in the same area.

I've been giving this some thought. If you read my previous post, you'll see that I have a dog and 2 cats so I love pets.

I don't like eating outdoors. I'm an indoor girl. I like air conditioning. So, having dogs on the patio of a restaurant doesn't really effect me one way or another; however, if I did enjoy eating outdoors, I'm sure that I would not enjoy sitting beside someone that had their smelly, scratching, licking themselves, dog! Even if the dog were well behaved, more than likely, it stinks!

Dogs scratch themselves, lick themselves and smell like dogs and that just doesn't appeal to me, while I'm eating.

Luckily my dog doesn't stink

No one is going to bring their dogs inside a resto--it will never be allowed. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I travel to Europe a lot!!! We could learn from them on dog friendly ideas. The Pups there do just fine anywhere, even in the dentist's office. Trust me on this one!!!

Not quite 100% true. Service dogs who are specially trained to service the needs of handicapped people and the blind are allowed in restaurants as mandated by the federal ADA laws which over rule any local ordinances.

Obviously I wasn't counting service animals, which everyone knows (or should know) are allowed anywhere/everywhere.

Seriously, must dogs be taken everywhere? I love dogs, and I don't mind them at outdoor eating spots (the diesel fumes from passing vehicles are likely to mask their stink ), but I balk at the idea that it's "dog friendly" to take/allow them everywhere, even dentists offices (!). I don't think the dogs really care that much, or feel society is being "unfriendly" toward them if they can't go into every place humans do. Really, I think when someone says "dog friendly" they mean "friendly to people with dogs who have some irrational need to take their dog everywhere with them."
