Hello future neighbors,

I am moving to NC to begin work in June. My plan for next weekend trip is to find an apartment. Should I enlist a realtor's assistance, or will I have success by visiting the complexes (mapped within limited radius from work) directly.
Our plan is for a short term lease since we want to purchase a home shortly after our NY home is sold.
All tips welcomed.
Thank you in advance!

We found our apartment by ourselves. I got the apartment guide book and went from complex to complex. They have a website as well that you can use to look them up. Good luck.

I found that many realtors don't engage in apartment assistance here. I am sure since there are more "complex" type apartments here than private home apartments, there may not be a need. I am not 100% sure, so correct me if I am wrong realtors. I had asked my realtor that I was working with to help me find a short-term rental, he was able to advise on areas, especially considering I was working in RTP. I found researching online, and the local apartment guides were a big help. I scheduled appointments, mapped it and went...many of the "complexes" have rental agents on duty, who are extremely helpful.

I did this last week - make sure you look at apartmentratings.com. That's what I did and checked out the complex's website - it was the first one I went to look at when I was there and took it.
