I am looking for a relativley basic description of this area, as I am not sure which part of Raleigh this is and it seems (from a map) that it is not ITB -
Is this a safe area?
What types of developments are near by (stores, restaurants, apartmenst, SD etc)
Approx how long would the drive be from nearby towns Apex and Cary?

HI,
I live in 27606 and i'm not sure how big the area extends but it certainly includes Lake Wheeler area.
There are several trailer parks around and the Tryon Road area extends a long way and encompasses most demographics that you are likely to come across.
There is a major development of 1500 residences underway where Tryon meets 401
If you could pinpoint a specific are I could be less general in my answer
There are areas of 27606 that are highly desireable, and areas that are less so.
Currently available MLS housing costs range is 146 units Active, $59,900 to $3,950,000
Describing an area by Zip Code is akin to the six blind men groping the elephant.
We looked at Dayton Woods which is near Lake Wheeler, I do not know the area code, but the homes were about 210-220K with just under an acre. Where this development was it was nice...

Well I am specifically looking at the area where Swift Creek Elementary is located because I was looking to apply to a job at this school and would not want a long commute - and would also want to be sure I was working in a school that was in a safe area.
Swift Creek Elemtary is practically in Cary, although it might be a 15 min. drive to get to the other side of town. Apex is about a 10 min. drive.
Alot of that area(where the school is) is known as Swift Creek. It's almost a little town itself, although mostly residential and not much commercial area. That's not a bad thing though as there is plenty of shopping close by in Cary.
I think it's a really nice area and there is not much crime either.
Mostly a very nice area. I'm in Enchanted Oaks, which is between Yates Mill and Lake Wheeler - all of the houses/subdivisions are nice and well-kept down Penny Rd and Yates Mill Pond Rd....Tryon is nice also. Just a warning...when you get around Simpkins Rd off of Lake Wheeler RD and down towards the lake leaving Raleigh, the area goes down. The area, for the most part, is very nice.
Thank you so much for the info! It is greatly appreciated. Any comments on Swift Creek Elementary School - for those of you who have children or know anything about the school?

Did you finally moved to Dayton Woods or decided to look further?
I just been there and wondering if this is a right choice.
thanks
