I am looking for recommendations for a thorough and reliable yard maintenance services in the Cary area. We are mainly looking at removing weeds, pruning, basic cleanup and maintenance of our yard. We already have some one to do lawn care/fertilization etc and we don't mind mowing/edging ourselves.

How much do such services cost?

I'm interested to hear how much lawn services cost, too. Here in our Philly suburb, you pay about $60-70 per visit for mowing and edging a .3 acre lawn. Are prices lower in Cary (I hope)?

I got a $100 negotiated qoute for trimming 8-10 shrubs and weeding (lots of it) all the flower beds around the house. Seems a bit high for 3-4 hours of work.

I don't really know of a company that does the type of work you are looking for (hedge trimming and weeding), but for mowing and edging in Cary, I recommend Showcase Lawncare. I've used Jeff for 2 years now and he's great. His prices are very reasonable! He's charging me $30.00 to mow, edge, trim and blow a .35 acre lot.

After fuel cost to drive to and from your house plus possibly to the landfill and any landfill fees I would estimate they are only making $30/hour and that's if it's only one person doing the job. I think that's actually a low estimate. I wouldn't touch it for that cheap.

Thats an excellent price for 3-4 hours of yard work. I think you will be very hard pressed to find a better price from somebody who does a good job.
