Point taken - there is a lot of that in Carrboro. I find the place a bit more laid-back and relaxed than you do, but I tend to be pretty dispassionate about politics.
Gotta love your comment on the bumper stickers! My wife, who grew up in the late years of the Soviet Union where Lenin's portrait was in all their schoolbooks, gets a great kick out of the plethora of socialist realist portrait stickers of our president. Only in Carrboro have I really seen these silly bumper stickers - as well as all the other anti-business, anti-oil, and anti-this, that and the other stickers --- all on cars being driven by people who are obviously privileged enough to own cars and drive them and have the time to

Okay, rant over. Carrboro is much more than Weaver Street (thank goodness), although the Weaver Street area still has quite a bit to offer those who have no interest in the politics and the attitudes of the more vocal and visible element (the restaurants, for example!)
