Hi, my name is Denise
I have friends who have moved from NJ w/ their 3 kids to Garner.
They have been living their for over a yr and have great things to say about the area..
They bought a KB Home but reading thru some posts I also see Anderson Homes are better?
Dont know how true this is but Im looking forward to taking a ride from NJ
w/ my family to visit the area..
My concern of course will be seeking work for both my husband and I,
the school system for my 6 yr old son my eldest daughter will be attending college of 2010 but needs to narrow her college choices by Nov.
Im also concern about crime, as well as a diveresed family friendly neighborhood and most importantly finding a Christian based church.
I will love to move by summer of 2010.
Any advice on KB Homes vs Anderson Homes
and school system will be a great help!!
My work experience will be more of a hospital setting.
I work in a hospital in NY as a registration Clerk for 10 years
and my husband is currently working as a shuttle driver which he transport tenants to the NY Ferry as well as a Porter for the same building the tenants live in..
So any advice on job seeking will be great too..

So what is your question? Don't move here without a job (does your husband have any other skills?), churches are a dime a dozen and really....this isn't the civil war....we've seen diverse families before and you aren't going to have a problem unless you move to a very rural area...of which Garner isn't. Oh, and your daughter will not get in state tution rates at first just because you may move here.
Anderson homes actually filed bankruptcy earlier this year and KB Homes has just recently announced they are the focus of an SEC investigation. That said, you will have plenty of housing choices throughout the Garner area. WakeMed was recently approved for a new facility in Garner though I'm not sure of more details off the top of my head. As far as our economy is concerned, Garner is home to a Pergo Flooring plant, Butterball Turkey home office, Golden State Foods (Large food distributor) and a Con-Agra food plant. We are about 5-6 miles from Downtown Raleigh and 30-45 minutes to Durham. Hope this helps.

Reason: No soliciting, even subtle .....
We love Garner. It's very family friendly and safe. The Wake County School System has been a bit of a mess, but I am very happy with the Garner school my son attends. You should check out the other threads regarding the schools system. We don't attend a Christian church, but you'll find churches everywhere in the south. My son attends a Methodist Preschool and they're wonderful, very welcoming, diverse, and they have a lot of outreach programs that concern the community.
From what I understand WakeMed is opening a facility in Garner, near the White Oak shopping center with an ER among other things. It'll be great for Garner.
Enjoy your trip down!
