We heard coyotes all the time when we lived in Ohio and would have the windows open. They supposedly lived over the hill from our subdivision. Nothing like being awakened at 3am to hear them "talk" to each other. It was a sound we thought was really neat.................our indoor cats didn't like the sound though...........
Finally got around to identifying the weird noises that have been coming out of our woods, mostly at night. At first I thought some marauding band of roosters or wailing women, but a quick check of on-line coyote recordings set me straight. Did anyone else hear them last night? (east Durham near Falls Lake) It helps to be an insomniac because I seem to hear them most often around 3 or 4 am. Moody and beautiful, also a little chilling....
Perhaps accounts for why we've seen far fewer deer and turkeys this summer than last. Also the deer refuse to come anywhere near the house this year whereas last year they were downright friendly (well, for deer).
