We used Absolute Stone in Cary (Absolute Stone) for installing granite countertops at our home. They did a fantastic job and we have been very happy with their work.
We got a quote from Absolute Stone (they have a location near the fairground also) that I feel can't be beat. They have a gigantic yard where you can actually see your piece of granite and throw in a free sink (which someone else quoted me would be $200). Also, a cabinet guy told me all the granite companies get their stone at pretty much the same place in Raleigh so the selection won't differ much (one place might have more choice). It comes down to how much the company feels like charging and the quality of their work (seams and such)

Do they also sell Quartz?
I have not been hearing too many impressing things about Granite. Radon exposure, patterns not always consistent, concealing bacteria, and requires sealing every year etc.
The granite pattern isn't supposed to be "consistent". It is a natural ROCK. It took me 3 trips to the granite warehouse to pick out my slab. Color changes from slab to slab.
I sealed my granite with a product that said it was for "life". So far, so good! My granite isn't very light so you wouldn't see a stain very clearly, anyway.
As for the radon it emits, I believe EPA did a study. You should read it. The radon it emits is very slight.
The quart that I have at the beach is a very consistent pattern. It is beautiful. We did not want to pay the extra to have granite, since it is a vacation home. The pattern is very consistent. They are easy to clean. As for re sale...I have no intentions of selling anytime soon so that isn't a huge concern for me. And, most of the homes in the n'hood have quart instead of granite.
I agree with crifever, get your pros and cons and the opinions of others and then choose for yourself.

VickiR,
As a Realtor, how good is Quartz vs. Granite as far resale value? This is very important in my ultimate decision to purchase one or the other. Thanks

Currently, more people prefer granite. However, who knows what will be the new "in thing".
We used to see granite in only the most expensive homes in the $500,000 and up and now we see more and more of it in less expensive homes.
I remember the first time I showed a home that was under $200K and it had granite in the kitchen, along with stainless steel appliances. We had not seen that in other homes in this price range and it really made my clients' decision to buy. Nowadays, we almost EXPECT to see it!
Remember...kitchen and bathrooms sell homes!
Also, if all the other homes in a particular neighborhood have granite, buyers will expect to see it. BUT...it is going to be YOUR HOME so you should also take into account what YOU WANT.
You may not plan to sell for 10 years and who knows what people will want THEN!
You can always do what YOU want and then when it is time to sell, update.

I wouldn't recommend them. They were contracted by Home Depot to do my countertop, and flooded my kitchen (broke the pipe when disconnecting to take out the sink, then hectically running around trying to turn off the water, with no idea where the main valve is).
