My 16 year old daughter is interested in finding a job, other than the babysitting she has been doing. She will get her license in Nov. and I am willing to buy the car and the first year of insurance but she has to have her own gas money. Of course, it would have to be after school and on weekends. Does anyone know any places she can apply to that hire 16 year olds in the Wake Forest/N Raleigh area? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

When my older daughter was 16, she worked at Brueggars Bagels.

I worked at Harris Teeter as a teenager and they were very good about scheduling my shifts around my school & extracurricular activities.

My stepdaughter worked at Subway. We gave her the same deal - we bought her the car (used) and started her off with 6 months of insurance. She paid the rest. Great learning experience for her.

My daughter was a hostess at Texas Roadhouse in Wake Forest at 16. We also bought her a car and pay the insurance and she is supposed to pay for her gas. Some of her friends have worked at the Wakefield movie theater, Shuckers, PPW's, the tanning salon by Brueggers and the Carolina Ale House just to name a few.

Very generous. I had to use either my parents Chevy Chevette (not Corvette ) or their Pontiac Grand Le Mans station wagon (complete with wood grain siding) until I got out of college and got my first "real" job. They paid my insurance up through when I graduated college though.

This will possibly date me. There was a time when Target was not around and the only such place was KMart.

It was here that I mastered the skill of announcing those famous "blue light specials" over the PA system. I had to pick the item, the price discount, write the script, tabulate the total discount taken, sales volume, and report it back to my manager. Was sort of fun. I swear I didn't goof any up!!

I also worked in a steak restaurant. I enjoyed KMart better as it closed at a reasonable hour vs. the restaurant so it didn't impact school nights as much. I didn't feel like the "kitchen" or smell like the salad bar cart when I came home either. Plus, I got a discount.

My friends in High School worked at places like Eckerd (Rite Aid now). When I was 14 I worked at Chick-fil-a. I also worked at the Raleigh Grand back when I was in high school.

Subway and fast food establishments seem like the typical places. My friends work at subway mostly.
