Why isn't vinyl siding used much in this area? Seriously, this masonite is .

There are pros and cons to everything. In my opinion Vinyl siding looks and feels very cheap and does not have too much character/aesthetics. Its easy to clean and maintain though.

I totally agree, Masonite is .

Hardiplank siding is probably the best option that currently out there.

We had a prominent Cary realtor tell us vinyl wasn't used much because it reminds the locals of trailer parks. I don't have any idea if that's true. I much prefer the look of maintained masonite to vinyl, but would never want to own a masonite house. Hardiplank is my first choice.

There are different levels and grades of vinyl, but what most people see around here is the cheap stuff.

Plus 1000.... There is the shiny, flimsy vinyl and then products like beaded vinyl that are textured and super strong...
