I'm underwhelmed with Harris Teeter on this lately, so thinking about going elsewhere.

I recall having better luck w/Kroger...how are they around here? There's one not too far away from me, although not as convenient as HT.

Others?

I've been disappointed in HT meats lately too. I have had THREE chickens in the past couple of months that were rotten smelling withing 24 hours of bringing it home (literally stunk up my fridge). I don't know what is going on over there!

Go with Whole Foods if you're really concerned about quality. All the others pale in comparison.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the meat sold at BJs. A couple of times I've asked for special quantities to meet a particular need and they've cut meat to order.

Costco and The Fresh Market is where we usually get our meats.

Where do you live? If it's not too far of a drive I recommend Cliff's Meats in Carrboro. Good selection, great prices. Only stand alone butcher I know of in teh Triangle. He supplies a lot of the area restaurants too. He also has a lot bigger selection than what you see in the glass cases. If you have other needs, ask for it and there's a good chance he has it in his walkin freezer.

I was going to suggest the same. My neighbor, a huge grill master, always gets his meats at BJ's for quality and pricing. I was always surprised to him say this but then changed my mind after some of his creations on the grill.

Yes, Costco has one of the best meat sections. BJ's is also good.

i'll have to give hime a shot. thanks.

we, too, have noticed a real drop-off in quality at HT. we still buy there because it's convenient, but we're much more selective. for the 'good stuff' we go to Fresh Market but you pay for the quality.
