My mom needs to move and wants to not have to worry about maintenance anymore. Ideally, she wants a single story townhome or condo with three bedrooms and a garage or carport. I can talk her into a detached ranch/patio style if maintenance is minimal or included. Safe areas in North Raleigh, South Raleigh, East Raleigh, inside the beltline, and South and mid Cary are all probably fine. Let's say east of Kildaire Farm Road. $250,000 range. I really like Troon but that is on the edge of how far west she is willing to move. It would be nice to put her somewhere with an active retired community, but not in an actual retirement community.

I would HIGHLY recommend the patio homes at Carolina Preserve....part of Amberly in West Cary. The patio homes are all on 1 level, have 2 bedrooms, 2 BA and a small den.....1200-1300sf and run in low 200s. All landscaping included.

I will go look at those. I could really use some options in North Raleigh though.

Townhomes/condos may only mow the lawn for the HOA fee.

Be sure to get definite info on what maintenance is still the owner's problem. You may be very surprised.
