I need to have some area of my yard regraded to address some drainage issues.

I am looking for recommendations of contractors.
Please help. I need it to be done before reseeding the lawn.

Thanks!

Small areas can be done by many landscapers. For large areas, I use Eaglehawk (363-5755) or SiteScapes (302-3040).

cry884. Thanks a lot for your reply. I did see your post before recommending SiteScapes. You mentioned that you hired an engineer to make sure the work is done correctly. Could you please tell me where did you find the engineer?

We only have a small area (1/3 of the back yard and a few places in the front), but I still want the job done correctly.

I have another dumb question, what kind of soil do they use to put around the foundation area? I did some research online, some said it has to be hard clay, other say it should be top soil. I am totally confused.

Thanks again.

You definitely want solid clay around the foundation to shunt water away from the house. Top soil is a no-no. I see top soil and mulch against foundations and know before I ever set foot in the crawlspace there will be at least minimal water intrusion. Clay creating a positive slope, and mulch no closer than a few inches away from the foundation wall.
In regards to grading/adding soil, dry wells and french drains are alternative methods to draining water away that may be less costly and work just as well. Feel free to message me with additional questions.
