We just moved to Chapel Hill from California and are looking to get a life outside of doing things with/for the kids (school, soccer, etc).

1) We've started looking for a church that was like the one we had back there (Presbyterian). We're not tied to a denomination but do want one that earlier (9:00 or so) services, one where the kids have a service of their own, and is contemporary feeling. Any suggestions?

2) Are there any social networking type groups for newbies to the area? We know a couple of people around but it's often difficult to break into a social scene when one is from another region.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

thanks

Orange United Methodist Church on MLK Blvd. has a 9:00 contemporary service.

my wife was a fairly active member of her Presbyterian church back in San Diego and seems to like Triangle Presbyterian Church off Hwy 54 in Durham (not far from Chapel Hill at all). I couldn't tell you if they have all you're looking for since that's more her thing than mine.

As far as social networking, meetup.com would certainly be your best bet online.
