You know, I was driving around downtown Raleigh tonight at around 6:30 and saw a bunch of news trucks located along one of the justice buildings and I was wondering why they were all there. Now I know.

Ok...so I've never been through a divorce. Is it so bad that people must resort to murder instead of divorce?

I have been following this case closely for three years and am hoping that justice may finally be served for Michelle Young, her unborn baby and her family.

I haven't heard about this story at all, but I try not to get absorbed in tragic stories like this since they tend to get to me pretty badly. But I don't understand people killing people. Sometimes it seems that if you make it through your adulthood without being murdered then you're lucky. I know that's a gross overstatement, but good Lord, you can't turn on the news without some story being of someone getting killed by a roommate, lover, husband, whatever. WTH is wrong with people these days??

I wonder if there really has been any societal change, if the incidence of these crimes has actually increased, or if news just spreads faster and easier with the internet?

I can't imagine how anyone 1) thinks they can get away with something like this (unless your name is OJ Simpson of course) and 2) since you WILL be caught eventually, is spending the rest of your life in prison and leaving your children as orphans a better alternative to a divorce?

Sadly, I think most of it has to do with money...spousal and child support.
