Great gyms are so nice to go to. I am considering living in a not so nice place if I know I can escape to a ridiculously nice gym. What does Raleigh have that you can recommend?

My ideal gym would have LOTS of yoga classes, great free weight area that doesn't get too crowded, really good treadmills, and stupid extras that I really don't need but that make me feel better about living somewhere cheap.

Also, a great outdoor pool would be nice in case I go so far as to live somewhere without a pool.

Thanks!

Best gym in this area IMO is Life Time Fitness. They're in Cary.

Golds Gym off of Pleasant Valley in Raleigh is nice. Love it.

For the last 25 years I've worked out at pretty low budget gyms ... The $90 per year places. I eventually was transferred to the Peak on Duraleigh which set new lows for appearance and up keep. When they shut down, my membership was moved to Gold's off Pleasant Valley and I feel like I'm at a country club. I'm sure its all relative but Gold's in Pleasant Valley is hard to fault.

Lifetime in Cary is REALLY nice.. However, it also has a BIG family atmosphere which I wasn't too into. When you walk through the doors, it seems like there are subliminal messages to conform

I thought that happened when you drove across the border into Cary.

Yeah, I don't think I'd want to drive to Cary. I'll check it out though, plus these others. I saw some stuff on 02 and might look at them also. Thanks.

My recommendation would be Lifestyle Family Fitness. There are 4 in the area (2 Raleigh; 1 Cary; 1 Apex) but I only use the one on Six Forks. The Six Forks location has a wet area that includes a lap pool.
