For everyone in the Triangle with TWC. I just received this message from them:

"We would like to inform you that one or more of your cable boxes will be receiving a software upgrade on Tuesday, October 6th shortly after midnight. The software upgrade requires no action on your part. However, please keep your box plugged in during this timeframe. Also expect your box to automatically reboot at least once and possibly twice during this upgrade. The process should take no more than 15 minutes to complete."

I have the HD-DVR boxes. I don't know if the upgrade is for all boxes or just ones like mine. I thought you may want to be aware of the upgrade. I have no idea what they are upgrading. Does anyone else know?

our HD-DVR box digitizes (pixalates) the picture all too often. TWC just called and left a robo-message about the impending software upgrade....

I had to reboot our system (HD-DVR box) last week and spent some time on the phone with TWC. A tech was sent to our home the next day. No one ever mentioned a software update though. We did find out we have old-timey cable (original from 11 years ago) which is odd since our neighbor has newer, thicker cable. A crew is supposed to come out soon (and trench our yard) to bring us the newest, biggest, baddest cable they have.

We just got the call also. We only have sa boxes (2 hd-dvrs) and 1 hd non dvr. Would be nice if they were more specific, my asumption then is its something with the hd-dvr's.

yeah same here about the pixelation. sigh. we're getting the upgrade for the hd/dvr box too. i got an email, a phone call (just now as i was reading this thread, oddly), and saw it on tv. it sounds like they're powering on and off the box a few times for a couple minutes in the middle of the night. why even bother telling me?

I have Scientific Atlanta HD-DVR box and got the email regarding the software upgrade. I can't point to any particular problem we're having at the moment. Some occassional pixelization and picture stuttering, but nothing too horrible. That's vast improvement since TWC (1) re-ran the wire from the street to our home with a much thicker cable, and (2) re-wired most of our subdivision.

I guess it would be too much to hope for some new features, a better guide, etc.
