We were talking about photo threads, and I'm curious how Triangle forum participants primarily access CityData, via broadband or dial up, or a mix?

The thread: //www.city-data.com/forum/ralei...hill-cary.html

The discussion wasn't on a forum.

The question was considering the need to cater to members with slow internet connections concerning photos posted on CD.

Anyway, I'm always curious how many folks still have dial-up so I did the poll.
Access speed is also a consideration in web design, along with CRT monitors.

I wonder if a broader poll (than just Triangle users) would be useful, especially given the number of people not from here who don't regularly read/post in this forum but visit it in search of information about our little slice of heaven.

Go for it. How will it be broader, and be Triangle/Triangle Forum specific?

FWIW, the poll is open for 5 days. I think. I may have marked 7 days. I can't get back in now to check.

Yeah - that's the challenge. I was just thinking if you're trying to gauge usage by people who use this forum, you'll get skewed results from those who are local and active. Think there's a correlation between activity and internet connection?

Betcha I wouldn't have 7600 Sterling Silver posts on 56k dial-up...

And poll is open until 1:04 Saturday.
Will see if that can be extended through the weekend.

There's a broader sampling.

Almost four hours in and the dialup user count is still zero. Maybe they're still logging in?

These folks study it at the State level (formerly the Rural Internet Access Authority)

I think folks are at work, and we may see something different come evening.
Or not.
