45 is cold when it is windy and raining. In fact, it is very raw. It will be raw for sure this week.

When it's 45, I'll be wearing a jacket. Cuz it's cold!

And patronizing? Moi? Non!

Despite all of the patronizing remarks from the Northerners, I don't believe anyone here actually considers 45 "Cold"...!

I am not ready for this brutally cold weather. I much prefer 90 degrees and humid. I do enjoy the seasons, but would prefer to glide into it, not get run over by it.

Rule of thumb here is that we usually get our first frost during the State Fair. This is just business as usual

Francois, is this true? I don't remember frost during the fair (only rain). (I figure Francois, keeper of data, would know for sure.)

The average human would probably pick a temp of around 74F-76F as the preferred temp. One could argue successfully that anything above that is hot and anything below that is cold.

My wife grew up in Canada (15 years) and 25F is still cold to her. I grew up in NH and 25 is certainly cold to me. I'm not sure where you people are from that below freezing isn't cold. Antarctica?

It would be interesting to see first frost date records for our area. I can remember many times getting our first during the Fair. Go ask any native old timer of Wake county when do we usually get our first frost, and we're not talking about a hard killing frost. You'll hear during the Fair a lot.

Francois is pretty correct. The average date of the first frost is October 21 at RDU, and the average date of the first freeze is October 28.
