Okay, I've had it up to here with Craigslist.... Don't get me wrong, it's a great site, but trying to find a house rental in NC from 500+ miles away using Craigslist (among numerous other real estate websites) is turning out to be very challenging......and very frustrating.

Please, to any transplants who were recently in my same shoes, could you recommend reputable and competent property management companies in the Raleigh area? I'm not looking for someone to tell me to check out Realtor.com or Rentclicks.com.....blah, blah, blah. Been there, done that.

What I need are names of companies / realtors who can serve as my local advocate in helping me find a house rental. I'm very willing to pay a fee for their service -- I need someone to help do the research, set up appointments, send me photos, or even go and see the rentals for me. Specifics please.....names, contact info, or websites would be appreciated.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!

So sorry you're going through so much stress! Which area are you wanting to be near? Are you looking for a house or an apartment? Furnished or unfurnished? Will you be alone or are you bringing family with you? Any pets?

Block and Associates does a lot of rentals in Cary.
You might try Rhyne Rentals who do a lot in Raleigh, particularly near NC State.

I don't mind working with rental customers, setting appointments and taking tours if I have time. But there is no agency in NC to represent renters, and we have to hand them off to the landlord or his agent. That makes it a little clumsy. But it also means YOU don't pay a fee. The listing agent pays a referral fee.

I bought a house from a company that normally handles rentals. The place was kept up really nicely, and the neighbors did tell me in a pre-purchase interview that it wasn't a last second pre-sale renovation but rather the house had been well maintained all along. Point is, I think this guy would be a good landlord if I were renting a house from him:

I believe he mainly deals in Raleigh.

Thank you for all of the replies so far. Please keep them coming!

One person asked for my rental requirements. Sorry, I should have been more specific in my original posting. Here you go...

- 3BR / 2BA detached house with garage
- Monthly rent around $1100 - $1300
- Fenced in backyard (preferable!)
- Close proximity to the Morrisville / RDU area
- 2 adults
- 2 very clean and well-behaved indoor cats
- 2 very clean and well-behaved medium-sized, indoor dogs. Both dogs are labrador mixes, approx. 45 and 55 pounds respectively.
- All four animals are housebroken and get their nails trimmed on a weekly basis
- Obviously, the place must accept pets!!!

If you need more information, let me know. Thanks, again, for everyone's help.
