Root Elementary?? (Raleigh: safe neighborhood, magnet school, living)

Does anyone have any background information on Root Elementary magnet school? I know their magnet program focuses on Leadership. I am just curious opinons of parents/teachers. Also, is this a good area of the city? Where would be a convenient location to live for a decent commute?

When we were looking in Raleigh, we were told by several people that Root is excellent. Isn't Root over by the country club? At least at that time (don't know if it's been redistricted) I THINK that was the base school for the country club neighborhood.

Root and Lacy were the ones ITB we were told repeatedly were excellent. I can't tell you more than that as we didn't end up moving to Raleigh so I stopped looking into it

Yes after looking at a map it did look as though it was near a country club - I am not sure which one. My main concern is teaching in a safe neighborhood and commute. As this school is in ITB - and I am not sure where i would be living - I just want to know which areas around Wake County are close to this and would not require a hectic commute?
