About a month ago they had cheerleader & football jerseys in UNC/NCSU/ECU at the K-Mart in Garner. You might call and see if they've still got them available? I don't remember what brand they were, but I do remember thinking that they were priced cheap. Which at the age when they out grow them so quickly, it'd be great to be able to buy several for the price of one at a campus book store.
There's also at least 2 stores in Crabtree mall that typically carry them. Can't remember the names of the stores though, maybe someone else can remember them for you. Between Halloween and football season it might be tough to find them right now. Good luck!
Rose's Department Store in Chapel Hill sells Carolina merch pretty cheap. I have seen what you are describing there before although the variety is always changing.
