Does anyone know what is going to be built on the land that just sold on the northwest corner of Hwy54 & Fayetteville St intersection in Durham, just north of Southpoint? This is directly across the street from Scottrade. I am hoping there will be a new restaurant, but I cannot find any info on it. Also, they are putting in the Hope Valley Commons Shopping Center around the 54/751 intersection. What is going in there? It just keeps growing and growing around Southpoint.

Hwy 54 and F'ville... hmmm. I thought that was where the Kroger shopping center was, with the parking lot and trailhead for the American Tobacco Trail at the corner? Just east of the McDonalds? Or am I thinking of something else?

I know the Harris Teeter on NC 54 is moving west to the new shopping center at NC 54 and 751 (behind Jiffy Lube). More info at http://www.swdurham.org/c-newht/index.html (broken link).

Yes, that is where there is a little strip of land for sale, which sold. It goes from next to McDonalds around the corner to the entrance to Southpoint Crossing on Fayetteville.

I just got my answer. I drove by and there is a new sign saying "Lease or build to suit". A developer must have bought it and now is trying to get a business in there.

Does anyone have any other info on what new things may be coming to southern Durham?

I know a new urgent care is coming in across the street from the Jiffy Lube. Very conveniently close to me, though hopefully I'll never need to pay it a visit. So far we've only had one urgent care visit (back in VA) - my 6yo got his finger stuck in a little toy he got from school for good behavior

The other urgent care is fairly close as well. I think it's called Duke Urgent Care? I saw it on Fayetteville, near the 54 intersection.

I'm looking forward to having the Harris Teeter so close as well. That will now mean three grocery stores all in a row betwn Fayetteville/54 and 751/54

I say the more the better. I love the explosive growth here. I want more restaurants.

I want a Lego store. Speaking of exploding, my DS would!

I am very happy about the Urgent Care. I hope it is Duke-compatible.

Lego stores are only in a few states - NOT NC The nifty thing is a huge wall of legos of all different sizes and shapes - wings, flowers, doors, 12x1's, etc etc. You choose one of two diff container sizes and you pay a flat fee for anything you can stuff into it. Very fun. And they switch out what they have available fairly often.
