I bought standard laminated white cabinets for my garage brand new at Home Depot for ultra cheap during one of their sales. You might see one come along and find the pricing good enough - just keep your eyes out. As far as finding used ones, I'm not quite sure where to look other than online or at local business possibly trying to dump scratch 'n dent type stuff.

I've never been there, but I hear that Habitat for Humanity Restore has those types of things. There is one in Raleigh.

I did the same thing. Home Depot was discontinuing one of their lines of white laminate (MDF) cabinets and I spent the weekend scrounging around at probably 3 local Home Depots to find all of the cabinets that I wanted. Unfortunately, the doors and cabinets were sold separately, and they didn't have some of the doors that I wanted. . . . . . .but they did sell sheets of Melamine (sheets of MDF with white laminate) . . . . so I made my own doors. Remember. . . . .it's only a garage.

I was able to create a tool workbench with undercounter and overhead storage, a rolling gardening cart (base cabinet on casters) for my wife, a rolling car wash cart (again. . . base cabinet on casters), and a 10 foot row of base cabinets and overhead cabinets (including corner) for general storage for only a few hundred dollars.

I just donated a bunch of old kitchen cabinets there this morning.

They have A LOT of used cabinets that would do GREAT garage duty
