Just go. It's good. You might like it, you might not, but it's still an experience and we should all be grateful we have such good ones. You'll have plenty of other weekends in your life to do other things. Make your GF happy and go.
Being married for 10 years, I've learned it's ALL about give and take. I *hate* football, but I know I need go sometimes to make my husband happy (and be NICE about it, not bitchy). If it's going to make her happy, you'll be happy in the end.
Good choice.
Me? I'm trying to score Hurricanes Hockey Tix on Craigslist for the Thrashers on Friday.
At my Sweetie's request.. Really... Gotta love that girl...
You've got a good one there. I'm a huge hockey fan myself, and actually introduced my husband to the game. BTW, you should be able to get good tickets right now, as unfortunately, the Canes aren't doing too well. Try the box office; they frequently have deals, and you can get them for regular price.
As for Phantom, I haven't been, but love theater. I dragged my husband to see The Producers several years ago. He was pretty reluctant to go, but I kept telling him he'd love it - especially since he's a huge Mel Brooks fan.
He loved it, and was singing "Springtime for Hitler" all the way home. It's not too difficult to get him to go to the theater now. He even went with me to see Mama Mia - twice!

She did all right too.
I offered to take her to Phantom.
We have an agreement, though, on Mamma Mia.
She can go with a friend. I saw the movie with her. And survived to tell about it. Won't tempt fate the 2nd time.

The stage show is much, MUCH better than the movie. The men on stage can actually sing. It was so much fun.
I saw it back in NYC 2 years ago on Broadway. I actually enjoyed it, and I'm not a person that is into musicals or broadway shows at all. Its a classic
The key to a proper relationship is teaching the s.o. that he/she may not be able to take you to certain events.
For instance How to not ever get invited to theater again.
1. At dinner get some strong drinks to take the edge off.
2. During the climax stand up and start belting out "Cat's" songs.
3. I recommend the Magical Mister Mistoffelees.
4. Get escorted out.
If you're still a couple after this, I guarantee she won't ever invite you to a theater performance ever again.

To the OP - you'll live, and it's good for culture!
Mike, hubby saw Phantom with me and loved it. Too bad, Les Mis is no longer playing. I saw that, he didn't. BUT like you, he draws the line on Mamma Mia! Can't drag him to that one with 10 horses! He actually enjoyed Celtic Woman at Columbia a couple weeks ago...didn't expect that from someone who'd rather do Trans Siberian Orchestra! Now he said he's a changed man!
