Have accepted that the double bags under my eyes aren't going away on their own. I don't want to look like a freak and don't want an eye lift, I just want the lower lids done - I'm tired of looking tired
I don't know how to go about finding a plastic surgeon who is very conservative and will not turn me into one of those scary looking people.
Does anyone have a name for me? Thanks
(I accidentally posted this in the Wal Mart thread - which was pretty funny)
Sorry, don't have an eye surgeon. But did you check out injections? There was a story this morning on oen of the morning shows about other drugs besides Botox. I remember the name of one -- Juvederm -- and some of them last up to a year. One full applicator, that takes care of one part of the face, costs about $500, and the results are immediate.
I'm not sure how it works with bags under the eyes, but I thought it was an interesting alternative to plastic surgery.
Try Dr. Marion at North Carolina Eye and Ear. He's an oculoplastics specialist...an ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) who's trained additional years in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eye and orbit. I'm sure there are other good oculoplastics people in the area, I just don't personally know them. Going to anyone who's not primarily an ophthalmologist is looking for trouble.

I've seen a couple of upper blepharoplasties done by Dr. Ed Ray at Southpoint Plastic Surgery in Durham that looked really great. Completely natural - just refreshed looking, not like a different set of eyes. Dr. Ray is a really nice guy, too. They've also got two fantastic aestheticians associated with their practice, and you could ask them if there might be some other alternative to surgery.
Whatever you decide to do, I highly recommend getting more than one opinion and asking if the doctor has patients who would be willing to talk to you about their surgeries and outcomes.
Make sure your plastic surgeon is board certified... not just a cosmetic surgeon. I went to [mod]deleted name[/mod] and he left me with very poor results. I made the mistake of doing my research after the fact. Make sure you check your doctor's background.

I had this surgery done 20 years ago and the doc I went to is no longer practicing. But I was VERY glad I did it, I was only 35 at the time but I always looked tired. Even then it was a relatively simple procedure. Ditto the recommendation on board certification. This is no time to scrimp - you want the best!

Thanks everyone, great advice! Lynn, that's exactly my situation though I'm in my early 40s. I really do get enough sleep and would like to look like it.
Forget the injections I mentioned earlier. There are lots of horror stories online, especially when it comes to baggy eyes.
