Does anyone know of a local canning supply store? Specifically, I am looking for a pressure canner and the parts that go into it. It's a Christmas present for my DIL who likes to can veggies.

You may want to call A Southern Season in Chapel Hill, they have all kinds of kitchen gadgets in their store.
Good luck

It's a lot easier to find canning supplies when local gardens are producing. I've seen canning supplies at Kroger, Michael's, Walmart, Agricultural Supply (in Garner) to name a few, but I'm not sure they have a pressure canner. I'd call the local extension office ( Home Canning Fruits and Vegetables In North Carolina ) and see if they have a suggestion, but you may need to mail order.

Thanks for the info! The link to the extension is very informative. I am going to forward that on to my DIL.

Happy Holidays!

Sometimes hardware stores (like Burke Brothers or others that have been around a long time) are a good source for items like that.
