Hello ,
I have a 1992 chevy lumina that has begun having erratic shifting and I think the transmission needs to be replaced in the near future, and yes the fluid is all good. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic for the work as I am a college student with a limited income, I will be buying a working used transmission and just need a good descent priced mechanic.
Thanks!
-Sam

Isn't a good used car just as much as a rebuilt trans?

Yeah its probably about the same price but seems to have more risks and costs associated with it. I know if I replace the transmission on this car it could last me a descent amount of time and that way I dont have to go through the trouble of looking for a car, getting tags, and changing the insurance.

A few years ago I had a transmission replaced on a Honda Civic at German Garage. It had been recommended to me by a friend, and I was pleased with their work and cost.

(Link is to Google Maps - I don't think they have a website.)
