I'm moving to NC on January and I need an apt very close by to the Research Triangle Park. Any recommendations would be great.

Try doing a search of this forum. There was a thread similar to yours started a few weeks ago. The person was going to work on Development Drive in RTP and was looking for something on the bus route, or a very short drive.

Try Bridges at Wind River. I drive by it every day and it looks nice. It is basically in RTP.

Also try this one:
Welcome to Southern Oaks at Davis Park

RTP is pretty big, so it may depend on where you are working.

There are many different apartment complexes you could check around RTP. I would recommend apartments in South Durham and/or Morrisville. It probably be even more helpful if we knew where in RTP you would be located as RTP itself is very massive.

I just moved out of a furnished 2BR 3.5BA exec townhome (granite, hw floors, garage, etc) in RTP...in Davis Park. AWESOME place, great landlord and terrific location. PM me for details if you are interested.

When I looked at other places, most apartments were around $1k a month, this is slightly more but was worth every penny.

There are a number of apartment complexes along Highway 54 between Morrisville and Chapel Hill, which would be a 10-20 minute drive to RTP depending on where you work. I don't have any direct experiences with them, but Woods Edge, which is on the western edge of Woodcroft on Hope Valley Road looks like a pretty nice place.

I lived in ParkRidge Estates (in Woodcroft off HWY 54) and was satisfied for it. Lived there mainly for the price. I paid like $670 for a one bedroom. But every renewal they went up $25 and I thought that was ridiculous.

If you want to go alittle higher price and nicer complex I can also recommend the apartments at the corner of 751 and HWY 54 (don't remember the name).

Both of these apartments off very close to three exits on I-40 and small shopping centers for day to day activities.

RTP would be a 7min drive from these.

Where in RTP will you be working? RTP is pretty big and commute time will vary based on where in RTP you're located.
