I've been looking at apartments online, and have some that have everything I want, so I know it's not impossible to find.

My wish list is:
Big bedroom/at least 11 by 13
Big closet (bonus if it's a walk-in)
Garage/Attached-Detached either way.
Amenities:
Dishwasher
High Speed Internet in unit
Washer and Dryer in unit preferably (or at least Washer/Dryer hookups
If you are willing to forgo the garage then you will have a lot more options under $620. But wanting a garage too may put you somewhere less desirable. Don't go by the price listed on the net always call and ask what the rent is and what specials they are offering.

There are tons of apartments geared towards students along Avent Ferry, Gorman, and Kaplan. Just depends if you are ok with potentially dealing with noise levels on esp. on the weekends.

If you are looking for somewhere a little quieter usually more grad students and young professionals look at places off Jones Franklin which is near Cary crossroads which would still be a very quick drive to Meredith. Now a lot of the complexes are over your budget but some might be running specials like Wildwood of Lake Johnson, Sumter Square, Enclaves

The Cameron Village area is good but it's mostly private rentals so will have to check craigslist or drive though to look for signs. I know a lot of people like Cameron Village Condos.

For downtown I have friends at Boylan Apartments who like it.

Stay in downtown, north , and west. Cary is a family area with little night life. As long as you stay out of Durham you'll be safe.

Can anyone tell me how safe it is around the malls in Raleigh? As that might be where I'd be working part-time. Also, any info about the Autumn River Apartments? I really like the look of it. Thanks everybody, you've been great help.

All of the major malls (north hills, crabtree, triangle town center) are very safe.
