Could someone point me in the right direction of a list of smoke free North Carolina restaurants ... if there is one??
Thank You!!
hah ha ha ha ha - that's a real good one !
AS someone who lived and enjoyed the smoke free atmosphere of NY before moving down here - all I can say is you'd be better off starting to smoke
Seriously, i have lived here for nearly 4 years now and still not used to the smoky bars and restaurants - it seems to range from tolerable to unbearable and the geniuses in charge around here voted against the smoking ban recently , after all it is a tobacco state so let that affiliation render us all sick in due course
Here is a listing I found: http://www.smokefreeworld.com/nc.shtml (broken link) I don't know if it is kept up to date or not, I just stumbled across it.
Honestly, I came from another state that had restrictive smoking laws, and I really haven't had a lot of problems in Raleigh - at least not as bad as I expected. I am really bothered by cigarette smoke, and the times I have noticed it the most is when I am in bars and restaurant/bars because there usually isn't an actual "smoking section" in these places. Believe me, I can't stand smoking, but I think that the Triangle region might be a bit more forward-thinking on this topic and that's why it hasn't bothered me as much as I expected. I don't really know about other parts of the state, though.
I live in Winston-Salem and Forsyth county does have a website with a list of restaurants [url]http://www.helpourbabies.org/list.aspx. It would be nice if other County health departments did the same.

Reason: correct url
They have Restaurant Stickers that it looks like they are giving away
"Happiness is Smoke Free Dining. We will tell our Friends"
"I'm disappointed. I like your restaurant. I'd come more often if it were smoke-free"
You leave these on the check when you pay.
It has a link for smoke free dining in your area but the link isn't working.
But I'm getting some of those stickers when I move. I'll put those to good use.
