My partner just gave me a call to let me know they are saying we may have a snow/ice storm this weekend. Any bets if this is just hype for ratings or if this is for real?

It's not a "hype for ratings", but the storm could still fizzle. They said we may have a storm this weekend. It's only Tuesday, nobody knows for sure yet.
They would not claim a storm was coming "just for ratings", but forecasts change. We'll find out closer to the event.
Too early to tell with any degree of confidence. I'd say wait a couple more days to see how things progress, but if you're nervous, head to the store now to stock up on your winter storm supplies - mandated by North Carolina state law: bread, milk, toilet paper, and beer.
Last night on ABC news they showed the blizzard that struck this area 10 yrs ago...that was a real dusie! So while I would not expect to see that type of snow or bad weather ...it would still be prudent to head to the store and pick up the essentials. It does not take much to incapacitate this town...a little ice will do it. When you consider that only the major roadways around the beltline will be prepped for the frozen stuff...the rest of town could very well be a skating rink.
Drat! I really do, right this moment, need milk, bread and TP! I hate slinking into the store for that after the news has broken of bad weather..ppl smile at you like you are pathetic

I swear Harris Teeter must contract with Greg Fishel to get bread/water/generator sales up about 2x/winter!!
