We just moved to Cary this past week. We have 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. One has some pretty serious health problems (common to the breed unfortunately). We want to find a caring vet who has some experience with this breed for that dog. Any ideas?

We have a Greyhound and they are a breed that needs special care as well. We looked far and long to find a vet we felt would look out for us, our dog and had knowledge. I highly recommend Animal Hospital of Peak Plaza and Dr. Bailey. (Company Information, Medical Care, Animal Hospital Of Peak Plaza, Apex, NC (http://www.apexanimal.com/ - broken link)) He is knowledgable, caring and professional in every way.

Thank you sooo much for responding. We will definitely check this out. The area is luckily not far from us.

I use Dr. Bailey as well for my three greyhounds. I like that he is open to discussing different treatment options and is usually conservative to begin with (i.e. doesn't recommend a lot of expensive tests right off, etc.).

Yes, that is a good practice. We see the other doc there, Dr. Szymkowski, who is great. And I know Dr. Bailey is one everyone raves about, too. The grooming there (Jules) is great and if you work, they are wonderful about letting you drop them off for the day to have something checked out. I find them very easy to deal with and the care has been great.

I do like Dr. Szymkowski as well - I just tend to see Dr. Bailey because I've been going to him longer. Both are very good though.

Is this Dr. Szymkowski also known as Dr. Sonja? I would be delighted to find her now closer than Wake Forest.
