Has anyone seen alot more empty patrol cars on the beltline lately? It does slow the traffic :-)
yes, I saw a few over the weekend, I was like, why are they empty? I understand now. I thought maybe the officer had to go to the bathroom...and went into the woods...haha...but after seeing 3 empty cars, in different locations, I was like no, there is another reason...
I saw an empty police car off of 70 in Garner/Clayton a few days ago. I commented to my husband who told me "nah...there's no such thing as an empty police car, he's got his seat down and napping".
So its a ploy to discourage speeders? Ingenious!

they tend to park unused vehicles in 24 hour locations such as supermarket parking lots etc. It's supposed to deter crime on the basis that even if the criminals know about the tactic - they are still taking a chance that it may be manned or an officer nearby
There was an article in yesterday's N&O about the empty patrol cars. Evdently they stpeed it up this weekend as speed deterrents on 40 and other major roads for the holiday weekend.
The Cary police have been doing this for years.
