Preferably in the Cary/Apex area. Any ideas?

Also looking for some glass jars....gallon and/or half gallon. If anybody knows of any restaurants or bakeries or places that just throw these items away, PLEASE let me know!

Depending on what you are using them for, you could always buy a non-food grade bucket and put in a food grade liner. Also, homebrewers use these buckets and you may find some on Craigs List that a homebrewer is trying to sell if he's getting out of the hobby. Homebrew shops sell them, but they are not cheap. Maybe restaurant supply stores.

If you stop by a bakery (Food Lion, Sam's Club, WalMart, Kroger, etc.) during a non-busy time and ask they'll probably give you some or tell when to come back and get them. You'll have to clean out the icing/filling, but they're typically free since they end up in the dumpster.

I was sure I replied to this, but I don't see it.

Also, try any restaurant that sells a lot of sandwiches. Pickle spears come in these five gallon buckets (as do many other food items).

Go to a restaurant and ask for a "pickle bucket" and I'll bet you get as many as you need.

When I was a kid we got our pickle buckets from ChikFila. Our neighbor was the manager. And yes, everything you put in them smelled like pickles.
