One of the great things about my relocation to the Triangle is that I was able to build a greenhouse and get fully engaged in my Orchid culture hobby. I joined the Triangle Orchid Society in Durham but I was wondering if anyone closer (Cary) is also in this hobby. Feel free to post here or send me a PM!
I heard there was a small shop that sells only orchids, near Whitaker Mill Road and Old Wake Forest Road. I bought a silk orchid...seems I do not have a green thumb!
The Raleigh Orchid Meetup Group was started recently (Feb 28, 2007). So far they have just three members. I am sure they would welcome you. The Raleigh Orchid Meetup Group (Raleigh, NC) - Meetup.com (http://orchids.meetup.com/37/ - broken link).

Hi, I am in Raleigh and wanted to join an orchid society here - but have not found a contact number?? Anyone tell me?
I am most envious that you have a greenhouse!!
I have 100 orchids - most Phalaenopsis - many colours - but also Cattleyas, Dendrobiums, and others as well. Half are in bud or flowering now.

I know of an orchid nursery in Morrisville at 402 Church Street. Any one else familiar with Orchid Trail Greenhouse? I once heard that they babysat orchids until they re-bloomed for busy gardners. Sort of like pet sitting!
