On Friday, February 5th 2010, Greg “FossilMan” Raymer was one of the celebrity participants in Nick Lachey and Jimmie Johnson’s 3rd Annual Super Skins Golf Classic at the Biltmore Golf Course in Miami , FL. The celebrity golfers at this event were competing along with friends for $15,000 per hole in prize money going to the charity of their choice. Playing in the foursome with Greg were; Mario Artecona of Miami and brothers Kevin and Larry Judd from Louisville, KY.

At the suggestion of his daughter Sophie, he decided to designate an animal shelter as the beneficiary this year. With winning birdie shots on the par 4, 7th and 11th holes, Greg was able to win $30,000 for SAFE Haven for Cats, a no-kill shelter in Raleigh, NC.

Greg “FossilMan” Raymer is a professional poker player who lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife Cheryl and daughter Sophie. Greg came to prominence in the world of poker when, in 2004, he earned the title World Champion and $5 million by winning the World Series of Poker main event.

This is cool. Not only for the charity, but I had no idea the "FossilMan" lived in Raleigh. I watched him win the World Series of Pojer "WSOP" before I moved here and never put the two together. I wonder if he does local appearances? My brother is A HUGE Texas Hold'em Fan and would get a kick out of it. Thanks for sharing.

Yes he lives in Wakefield (on the same street as my ex husband). Beautiful home.....and obviously a beautiful person with a caring daughter
