Ok I need boxes, lots of them. I went to costco their prices do not make me happy. yea yea I know I am cheap. I looked at Uboxes.com and the site looks great and free shipping. Anyone use them?
I want recommendations on movers if you used one were they any good, how much did they charge for how many rooms, etc.?
Has anyone used PODS? Did you totally POD or did an assisted POD?
I HATE HATE HATE moving.
I need it not so grueling.
Be my friends, talk to me, please please with sugar on!!!!

Default Budd Movers

........they were (are?) in Budd Lake NJ. Smaller local company with whom we had a very good move in 1998.

Try Craigs list for boxes

Wanna,

Try freecycle.org in your area. We got a lot of free boxes from there.

Go into your local Walmart. The Hallmark Rep should be there daily. She should have boxes you can take. My garage looks like a Hallmark warehouse

I have also found some good ones at BJ's near their bakery section.

For tons of good information on finding a reputable mover, check out this site.. Moderator cut: url removed Moving: How to avoid Moving Company Scams[/url].

I also found a lot of hints there that helped make my move go a whole lot smoother. Bear in mind if you are going with a professional mover, they may not appreciate a bunch of oddly shaped boxes. I bought "standard" moving boxes (small, medium, large) from Uline, and all my belongs arrived intact. Not one crushed box or broken plate.

I agree with the Walmart suggestion. Call your local Walmart ask them if they could set aside boxes for you to have. They will tell you to come get them at a certain time. For us it was 4 AM, after they were all unloading the stuff. But worth the money we saved!

I can tell you who not to use - avoid Smooth Move (my personal moving nightmare in 1993) and Father and Son.

ABF U Pack has gotten great reviews from people I know but I never used them.

I got boxes at Staples. I know, overpriced.

PODS seems to be overpriced. Best do-it-yourself I have found is Upack.com...I'll be using them for my move from California. Get boxes from just about any big box retailer...got mine from Barnes and Noble.

Some moving companies will actually give you free boxes, as an incentive to allow them to come to your house to give a moving estimate. As soon as we put our house on the market....BAM!.....we got oodles of postcards and flyers in the mail from moving companies offering such deals.

The moving company that we ended up using.....we're in Western, PA by the way....gave us 35 used (but still in VERY good condition) boxes when they came to give an estimate.....and then another 75 boxes, for a total of 110.....after we agreed to go with them and provided a deposit! Oh, and they gave us two 6-packs of moving tape, too. And I'm not talking about flimsy potato chip boxes from your local grocer. These were better / stronger than the boxes that UHaul sells.

Just food for thought! Heck, get as many moving companies as you can to give you estimates. Heh, heh.....MORE FREE BOXES FOR YOU!
