I have been accepted to ECU for my masters in middle grades education. I would like to do my student teaching in the Chapel Hill area and also live there eventually. Is there a city situated in between where I could live for the year of the program and commute to Greenville for school and Chapel Hill for student teaching? I know this seems extreme but I think it is the best way to go about this. Thank you.

Second all of the above. Also, east Raleigh might be close to the middle in terms of travel time, depending on time of day. Greenville is usually a quick trip once you get out of Raleigh.

Chapel Hill and Greenville are a long way apart. And are you sure they would allow you to do your student teaching in another county so far away? They have to come and observe you several times during student teaching, a few of them unannounced, and I imagine the observers wouldn't be thrilled with having to drive to Chapel Hill just because it was convenient for you. Have you specifically asked the department if they'd OK this?

If you want to student teach in Chapel Hill, why not just apply to UNC School of Education, or even NCSU? The Chapel Hill schools might not even accept people from outside the area for student teaching slots, since there is a continual stream of them coming from UNC and schools will only take X number of student teachers at one time (lest some of the kids end up with too many student teachers and not enough real ones).
