Are pork hearts in Yankee Dogs? They're in Bright Leaf and that is just something I can't get past.

I guess I'll stick to fake hot dogs, then, 'cause they sure taste better. And you're kidding yourself if you think your local dogs aren't made of meat packing floor scraps.

I imagine that some kind of heart is probably in every kind of dog. They don't exactly use the tenderloin cuts, y'know? I've had chicken hearts and they were delicious. I'd be more worried about the fillers and "by-products" than actual animal meat.

I took it that he was joking about his choices. All of them taste like texture-less boiled hot dogs no matter how you cook them.

I'll take grilled Boar's Head lite franks over any of the ones mentioned in this thread.

Maybe maybe not, save the Red40.

Gotta be slightly blackened.

And no you shouldn't be. I think the folks I know who've worked there are embellishing a bit just to feel important due to privileged information.

I'm sure most hot dogs are not made with prime cuts of meat, but I doubt the better quality dogs have hearts and other stomach turning ingredients. I do worry about fillers and by-products which is why I rarely eat hot dogs.

Since when did animal hearts become a stomach turning ,unsafe ingredient. International Chefs be warned!!!!! At least if it's an animal part I know what it is.I do disagree about Boars head dogs. I love the deli meats but surprisingly didn't care for their dogs. I consider myself a foodie of sorts but really like Oscar Meyer for a hot dog at home.

Hot dogs labeled "Kosher" won't have organs in them, and will have what is mostly "prime-ish" cuts of meat.

THIS article tells what cuts are Kosher (and organ's are not on that list). I have no problem eating hearts, tongues, cheeks or any other part that others are enjoying, but I will say that Kosher does in fact use prime cuts. The reasons are historically different, but if you are squeemish about what you eat, this is an easy way to filter "the scary stuff".

Me: I think I'm going to roast a pork butt and serve it with apple sauce, Potato Latkes and a nice bottle of wine.
