My ol' college roommate is headed down and we'd love to find something FUN to do in the area. We like to shop, but we're pretty thrifty and we have no desire to do any tours of the such. We're pretty crafty as well and just want to have a good relaxing time somewhere between Durham and Raleigh this Saturday....thanks for any great tips you can provide! Oh, and a coworker mentioned some place in Fuquay where you can pick fabrics and design a purse, but I can't seem to find that by googling...so any tips on that would be great as well. Thank you Ladies!

Ornamentea (Glenwood South) and Panopolie (by Triangle Town Center) are bead and craft stores that have work tables and tools there so you can make jewelry while you're there. The staff are very knowledgeable and I have seen them help customers out with their creations. They offer classes as well.

Default you could give

aveda salon in chap hill a shot for haircuts, facials & massages. they do pedicures too but im not a fan (unless they have changed their procedure of using just a bowl for soaking). great prices since its a training school. from there, you can walk to several places for lunch on franklin street. there is a great yarn shop in downtown hillsborough (limited choices for non chain restaurant lunch, or chain just up the road).
