I've been on private tours at all of these breweries. You won't find uniformed guides giving scripted tours at any of these places. Tours will be conducted by the brewers or owners and they will get as detailed as you want to. I can say that all of these guys are great people and I encourage everyone to support your local brewery. Thanks for the link NRG.
Thanks for posting! As a side note, I wanted to give a quick shout out to Triangle Brewing Company. We called them this weekend as we weren't sure if they were a brewery or a brewpub. The guy who called us back (whose name unfortunately escapes me) answered all my questions, explained their tours, and then took the time to recommend other establishments in the area that we should definitely check out (we're new in the area). All in all, he was a pretty great guy and we can't wait to take a tour.
Man, my wife and I are planning on going to Caroilina Brewery this weekend with a friend. Now there will probably be twice the normal number of people.
FYI, if you ever want a keg and like Carolina's products, they sell them directly and their prices cannot be beat.
Oh, yeah, love me some Bad Penny. I looked into getting Kegs from Big Boss and they are not nearly as friendly as Carolina. Really high keg deposit and high prices too.
OK, you've inspired me - I've been saying for months that I wanted to do the Aviator tour - this weekend I'm actually gonna do it - and then catch the rest of them this Spring!

Don't expect much. Aviator is the most basic of the local micros. They are in an airplane hangar and even have some equipment repurposed from the dairy industry. Still. . . . . . very interesting to see how they deal with these limitations. . . . .and. . . . Aviator gets my vote for the local micro most likely to brew something unexpected and interesting.
I can't wait to buy my first growler! I would like to get one from each place and fill them up from time to time. I'll probably get one from LoneRider first. Then maybe Aviator although I don't know how often I will make it out there. Something cool about showing up with a jug and getting it filled with good beer to take home.
