We attended the "Pieces of Gold" performance tonight. It is a performance in which various Wake County School children perform. I was very impressed on all the performances and the children worked very hard to make the show successful. I was however extremely disappointed in the ADULTS that took it upon themselves to "boo" the members of the schoolboard when they were introduced. There is a time and a place to show your displeasure toward the school board and tonight was NOT the time nor the place. Tonight was about the children. We teach our children that at performances such as these you show respect and you do not "boo" or yell out anything negative. If you don't approve you simply just do not clap and you sit there quietly. I find it rather ironic that one of the performances had to do with "apologizing" and how in our society today "sorry" is becoming all too common. Those adults ought to be ashamed of themselves and re-familiarize themselves with what "RESPECT" is all about!!!!

They weren't booing the children. As you said, they were booing the school board.

As you mentioned, if it supposed to be done out of respect, maybe that is what is lacking. The audience had no respect for the Board members, as the Board members seem to have little if any respect for the parents, as noted by Margiotta's "animal" comment. If Margiotta thinks that anyone that disagrees with him is an "animal" then I don't have any respect for him either.

The point is....last night was not about the schoolboard. It was about the kids who worked very hard to put on the performance. It's sad to see that people cannot separate the two.

JQ, you are correct but it was not the place to be booing period. It was an event to showcase the kids and that is all it should have been about.

I heard about his from a friend. I don't care how angry people are right now or how much they feel like the board hasn't listened to them, it is not appropriate to boo them. Especially not at Pieces of Gold. There's just no excuse for it.
