I have been unsuccessfully looking for a good GP for past 3 years. I generally would visit them for annual physicals, minor ailments and allergies but would of course like them to correctly diagnose severe/special cases.
I live in Cary and would prefer something close by. I also prefer a female physician. I found two practices - Cary Family Healthcare (Dr. Ginette Archinal) and Cary Healthcare Associates (Dr. Cynthia Young). Any good or bad recommendations/experiences with these? Any other recommendations are also welcome.

Thanks.

My husband and I both go to Cary Family Healthcare, although we see Dr. Christine O'Meara. We've never waited more than a couple of minutes to be seen, and they have been flexible getting us in for urgent issues. Dr. O'Meara is very thorough and I would highly recommend her. Depending on where you live in Cary, their office is very convenient too (corner of Kildaire and Cary Pkwy).

We've been patients of Cary Family Healthcare for a long time, and happy to recommend them too. I've been very satisfied with Dr. Gagliardi and my wife loves Dr. Archinal.

I go to Dr. Cynthia Young and really like her a lot. She's very friendly and easy to talk to. Their location is very convenient to me and I live in Apex. Another plus, the office staff is very friendly and helpful, which is something I am very conscious of. It was helpful they were friendly because I had to take my twins with me when I had my check up. They were great.

I have a doctor I really like. She is in Raleigh though, not Cary. I recommend Dr. Michele Casey. Very knowledgeable, personable, and focused on wellness and not just on disease-care. She's just moved from one practice to a Wake Med affiliated practice in Raleigh.

I would recommend Dr Archinal 100%.
She has been my Dr for about 8 years.
Almost all of my friends have moved over to her practice as well after seeing the excellent care my family has received there.

I know this thread is a little old, but I wanted to let anyone doing a search in the future know that Dr. Cynthia Young was a huge disappointment for thyroid treatment. While she was willing to prescribe natural thyroid medication, she wanted to start me off at a microscopic amount and keep me there for six weeks and then check labs. Sigh. Can I drop my kids off at her office every afternoon, when I am too exhausted to care for them? Before labs, doctors used to ask patients how they felt and check them for symptoms, but that is rare these days. I was looking for a doctor who followed more of what is suggested in Stop The Thyroid Madness and did not find that in Dr. Young.

Dr. Cynthia Young left Cary Healthcare Associates to open her own practice in the same general area of Cary. Her new outfit is Western Wake Wellness. She recruited two of her CHA colleagues -- Ken Lake and Lisa Wilcox.

The usual caveats apply -- I am not a doctor, nor do I even play one on television. Many healthcare professionals follow this guideline: Start Low, Go Slow. Each patient will have a different response to a medication. A cautious approach is often the right approach.

Good luck finding any traditionally trained medical doctor in this area who will follow that doctrine. If you are aware of the Stop The Thyroid Madness movement, then you should also already know there are only a limited number of doctors who claim to totally address and successfully treat thyroid related issues by running extensive and expensive blood tests outside the boundaries of what typical regular MD's usually check and most of them are Chiropractors and not MD's. You will most likely have to travel outside of the Raleigh area to find one of those claimed thyroid specialist treatment clinics based on research I've done myself in the recent past.

You can't just jump in and start taking meds to treat thyroid issues unless you know what the exact problem areas are through lab testing otherwise permanent thyroid damage can occur so in that regard Dr. Young was correct in watching out for your best interests by taking things slow. I'm not a doctor but I highly suggest that you do some research to better understand currently available thyroid treatment medications and their potential risks and side affects. I know several people who basically had to have their thyroids medically destroyed and now have to take daily meds for the rest of their life. There are no magic pills when it comes to treating thyroid issues so proceed slowly and cautiously to determine what corrective treatment plan works best for you.
