Cook with all kinds of herbs and veggies from a small garden on the side of the house, but built a box this weekend for a raised garden on the deck. Want various heights for the look, but don't know what is best for depths of roots.
My first box is 12" deep: what can go in there and how much Triangle sun should I plan for?
How wide is your box. at 12" depth I think most plants I can think of (tomato, peppers, herbs ect..) would do fine. I made a square foot garden last year and it was only 8" deep. All those types of plants do well. I would try to position the box in a spot that gets around 8 hours of sunlight.
