My parents will be in town this weekend, and given the beautiful weather I thought it would be fun to take them to the Farmer's Market. Then I realized the weather hasn't been nice for very long so things probably haven't really had a chance to grow yet.

Has anyone been yet this year?

You won't find much in the way of locally grown produce cause, like you said, it's too early. However, there are still lots of vendors there with produce as good or better than what you'll find in a grocery store, the plants/flower vendors will be there in full swing, and the one building at the top of the hill has other items such as jellies, cakes & pies, crafts, and such. And, you could get some country cooking at the restaurant.

Definitely worth a trip, in my opinion. It's fun just to walk around and look.

It's a great time for the Farmer's Market. Don't forget about the indoor vendors that sell local stuff. Plus the seafood...yum! Love that place.

Went today. Lots of plants. The produce consisted mostly of sweet potatoes, greens, some onions, spring onions, beets, and some tomatoes.

Today was the First Day of the Wake Forest Farmer's Market. They will all hit full stride in the next two weeks.

One thing I like about the Triangle is that we now have multiple nice Farmers Markets, with chemical-free produce available. It'll probably be another couple weeks before much of the variety of veggies are available. I bought some fresh eggs and greens at my farmers market last week. Such a difference buying local and chemical free versus even organic from a place like Whole Foods.
