I had a dog microchipped 7 years ago and it was injected like a shot; on their back, kinda between their shoulder blades. It was painless. My dog didn't notice that he was getting it. It was well worth it for us. He was very old and wandered away. His microchip brought him back home.
Microchips are implanted just under the skin, usually right between the shoulder blades. Takes seconds and is no different than getting a regular shot.
The chips are read by passing a microchip scanner over the pet’s shoulder blades. The scanner emits a low radio frequency that provides the power necessary to transmit the microchip’s unique cat or dog ID code and positively identify the pet. From the chip your contact info can be located and you can be called to let you know your pet has been found. Every vet I've ever been to has a scanner so do most shelters.
I just went to the New Bern Ave location you quoted. I wasted my time looking for this so-called HUGE event. You need to get your facts straight kickchick2000 before you send people on wild goose chases. Thanks for nothing!
