I know we have discussed pools when it comes time to re sell but I'm finding more and more people would love to have a pool in their backyard!
As time goes on and more people relocate here that WANT that pool, I think we'll see more pools in people's backyards.
I would love to have one in my backyard!
The final result looks great! Enjoy!

We plan to live here for 20+ more years, so we did it for ourselves rather than resale, but, I'd think that a nice pool, well designed and thought out (and kid friendly) with economical (free!) solar heating and a variable speed pump which costs much less than a standard pump to run, plus easy cleaning and care, would definitely be something that a buyer looking for a pool would love to have.

Not to mention your hardscaping around the pool isn't the standard concrete jungle. Your hardscaping is FABULOUS! It's the whole package!!!
That's so cute that your daughter can say pool. I know you must be proud of both .... daughter and the pool.

Thanks We *almost* went with concrete to save some money as we were sort of already over budget, but we re-considered at the last moment and are glad we did. Wait til you see it completely finished off up against the new building. It will really be great. We sit back there every day and say "can you believe this is our backyard and our house?" because we would have never imagined such a thing even a few years ago, and certainly not when we were dating or getting married.
As for my daughter, she's a GREAT kid. She's 18 months now, so it's that time when language really skyrockets. She says new stuff every day it seems. We went down to the basement on Saturday to look for daddy's shoes and she pointed out the window and said "Pool!". It was awesome, but I'm always proud of her no matter what. She's a really sweet, kind, sensitive, caring person. We could not have gotten any luckier with her.
Some more updates. Now that the garage is done, they finally finished off the pool deck to join up with the garage and walkway that goes from driveway to rear/backyard. Here are some updated pics. Now we just need to finish off the fence and do some landscaping in the beds we left open. We love how it turned out, despite having spent more than all of our savings on these projects.
New inexpensive Walmart playset for my daughter on lower level:
Firepit/waterfall (you can just make out the water blade under the top edge of the pit - it has a sheer descent waterfall that goes into the pool:
Looking forward to your first City-Data pool party.
